The Harrogate Course - 2009

Friday, 3rd April 2009

Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers

HARROGATE RINGING COURSE, APRIL 2009

(associated with the Whirlow Grange course)

Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th April

Details

The residential course runs from the evening of Friday, 3rd April until after lunch on Sunday, 5th April, and will use towers in the Harrogate / Ripon area for practical sessions on 6 and 8 bells. The course is based on Ashville College, which provides accommodation, meals and training facilities. The purpose is to enable those who are becoming comfortable with method ringing, but need that extra little help to become confident. The main idea is to concentrate on plain hunt, plain bob and grandsire on 5, 6 and 7 bells.

Each student will be in a group with a highly experienced tutor, and will be able to learn the theory of, and practice, what he or she wishes to master. There will be over 6 hours of practice, with experienced ringers helping to ensure that each student will always be ringing with a strong band.

The minimum requirement for acceptance as a student is competence in ringing rounds and call changes.

There will be opportunities to meet other ringers, to have talks on topics related to ringing and the chance to ring at several towers over the weekend.

What is the Cost?

Residential Students

16 and over £100

Under 16 £70

This covers accommodation, all meals from Friday dinner until Sunday lunch (except Saturday lunch), tuition and tower fees. Transport to towers is NOT included. (see below)

Non residential students all ages £45

NOTE: there are limited places for non residents.

This covers tuition, tower fees and teas / coffees, but not meals.

Transport

Students will be responsible for their own arrangements for travel to the course. Travel information will be provided to all students.

Students and helpers will be expected to share transport to and from the practical sessions, and will be expected to make a suitable contribution towards the cost of fuel.

How to Apply

Complete the application form and return to Susan Laycock (address on application form or by e-mail slaycock@richmondmethodist.n-yorks.sch.uk).

Branch Outing

Saturday, 3rd July 2010

Dear All

Please see link which is the plan for the Branch Outing on July 3rd from the calendar of Branch Events 2010

For the evening meal, I have not looked at any where in particular. If there is interest in an evening meal I will look for some ideas. My initial search did not come back with much except a couple of hotel restaurants local to Saddleworth.

Otherwise Sid's cafe in Holmfirth ??????? Website says open all the time but I will give them a ring.
